Overview
Learn practical, life-saving skills with the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England
Catastrophic bleeding can become fatal within minutes, so early action is critical. Stop the Bleed is a free one-hour session focusing on helping members of the public respond to life-threatening bleeding before emergency services arrive.
You will learn how to recognise severe bleeding and how to manage it using simple, effective techniques, including:
- Using your hands to apply direct pressure to a wound
- Packing a wound to control bleeding
- Applying a tourniquet
This is a hands-on workshop, giving you the chance to practise these skills and build confidence in responding to a real emergency. The training is suitable for anyone interested, with no previous medical knowledge or experience necessary.
