Film curation workshop and screening social

Ever wondered what goes into creating a short film night? Ever wanted to try putting a film programme together yourself? Ever wondered how your own film might be curated?


Join us for an playful afternoon exploring storytelling, curation & short films! In this free collaborative workshop, by artist film screening programmers MicroActs and Hypha Studio’s residents SCRAM! Collective, we’ll explore the art of film curation, and enjoy a practical session of putting together a screening. The session will close with a screening social, where we’ll watch your programming work together. 


This session will provide a supportive environment to ask questions, test out ideas, and work collaboratively to co-create an exciting screening! Short films are kindly provided by SCRAM! Collective members, and workshop attendees are also welcome to bring their own short films (up to 5mins in length) to be included in the programming. 


Materials: nothing is essential, but you’re welcome to bring notebooks/pens and a phone/tablet to watch the films (during the smaller breakout groups).


Cost: FREE, the workshop is free to attend, but any donations are welcome. Any contributions , however small, help us cover the cost of running the workshops and keep these sessions free!

Accessibility info: The event will take place on the second floor. The building is not wheelchair accessible and there are stairs to every level with no lifts:

There are two toilets on the second floor and these do not have any grab rails.
