Stories that Root Us: Nature Writing and the Art of Connection
Overview
📖 From the poetic musings of Thoreau and Muir to the vivid explorations of contemporary voices, nature writing has a rich history of shaping how we see and relate to the natural world. This talk will discuss the different types of nature writing and reveal how stories about the land continue to root us deeply in place and meaning.
📚 We will explore how writing can transform not only our understanding of nature but also our role within it. Whether you’re new to nature writing or a seasoned reader, this talk invites you to engage with a timeless tradition that connects past and present, words and wilderness, and ultimately, ourselves to the world we call home.
💡We will discuss favourite authors, suggested reading and go in to more detail about nature writing in winter to get your inspiration flowing for the season. There will also be an opportunity for participants to contribute to the High Life Highland Ranger blog Nature Unveiled.
