Do you want to increase your confidence in public speaking and your ability to create magic with the spoken word? Come and learn about the ancient craft of myth-telling and discover the storyteller lurking inside you!

Storytelling skills are useful in many walks of life. Whether you would like more confidence in public speaking, are interested in the deeper issues brought out by stories, want to develop your creative expression, or want to tell stories but simply don't know how to start, the most important thing to do is BEGIN.This one day workshop is for beginners to storytelling, and for those with some experience who would like to gain confidence. We will work with a traditional tale to look at story structure, character, and idiosyncrasy; play with story, considering environment and audience; and learn techniques for remembering stories and gaining confidence. By the end of the day, you will have had the opportunity to tell at least one story that you can take away and make your own.

Feedback from previous workshops:
"Thank you for firing my enthusiasm and confidence."
"Thank you for a fabulous day, inspiring and very productive.
I'm going away with lots of ideas......"

Suitable for ages 14+. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytelling is an age-old tradition. Traditional stories passed down through the generations include folk tales, fairy tales, myths, epics and stories of how it all began. Part of the craft of good storytelling is to really get into the heart of a story, honour the community and the place it has come from, and bring it alive in ways that directly connect with the people listening in the here and now.

We all need magic and inspiration, desperately so in these difficult times, and many traditional stories lie at the roots of our beliefs and our journeys. Whether you are two years old or a hundred and two, there’s something heartening about sharing in a good tale. Stories can offer a flash of inspiration, a whole load of belly-laughs, a hero’s journey or a new way of looking at life.

Join Lisa Schneidau for a weekend of folktales from Britain and Ireland for all ages!
