About this event

  • 8 hours

The first event of its kind in Brighton & Hove inviting all primary school dance clubs to compete for the much coveted title of “Best Dance Club” of the city!

This intra-school friendly fun dance competition promotes connections and new friendships, praises the children, their hard work and commitment, and above all, showcases the amazing young talent we have in this amazing city!

Each primary school can enter one or two dance groups of up to 40 pupils. The dance routine can be creative, musical theatre, contemporary, or Streetdance! The routine must be no longer than 3 mins.

The children will then have an opportunity to show off their individual dance skills in the solo freestyling categories, earning themselves the title of Brighton & Hove’s “Best Dancer”!

THE DAY

Doors will open at 9am and we will be looking to start the competition at 10am. The event will start with the teams dancing in front of a panel of judges. Once all teams have danced, awards will then take place.

After awards, any children wanting to compete in the freestyle solos can do so to win the "Best Dancer" of their category (based on school year). Once all the solos have competed, awards will take place.

There will be a DJ on the day and he will be playing music for kids to party and have fun to!

We also aim to get parents involved with the dancing and the voting!

We will probably have a final disco and freestyle dance jam at the end.We are expecting the event to finish earlier than 5pm but this will depend on the number of contestants we get. We will finalise the schedule by Monday 3rd of June.

FOOD

We would recommend parents and the children to bring food. The cafe at Moulsecoomb Leisure Centre is quite limited however we are working on getting a food truck there (selling burgers, chips etc).
