Strength for Runners: Building a Resilient Base for the New Year
Build strength, resilience, and control for your 2026 training.
Spring race training is just around the corner. The work you do now can be the difference between a strong, consistent build and a cycle interrupted by niggles or injury.
This Strength for Runners workshop is designed to help runners build the physical foundations required for the demands of training. The session will focus on developing strength, control, and resilience through key movement patterns that support running performance and durability.
This is not a generic gym class. It is a runner-specific strength session led by experienced coaches who work with runners week in, week out.
What you’ll work on
- The key strength qualities runners need heading into training
- Lower-limb and trunk strength for improved load tolerance
- Control and stability through hips, knees, and ankles
- Practical strength exercises you can integrate alongside your running
- How to balance strength work with increasing run volume in the new year
Who this is for
- Runners planning a spring marathon or half marathon
- Runners returning to structured training after a break
- Anyone wanting to reduce injury risk and train more consistently in 2025
- All abilities welcome – exercises will be coached and adapted as needed
No previous strength training experience required.
