Stronger Voices is partnering with di:ga Communications  to deliver you a free masterclass on strategic communications

Stronger Voices is a Media Trust programme which has been specifically designed to strengthen the voices of equality organisations across the capital. Strengthening the communications capabilities of equalities organisations is critical if we want to enable the voice and representation for those who are marginalised and facing inequality. The Stronger Voices programme is funded by City Bridge Trust.The masterclassOn Tuesday 18 January, Media Trust will run a free masterclass in partnership with <a href="https://digacommunications.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">di:ga Communications</a> on strategic communications and using the media and digital communications to drive change. di:ga provides media and communications advice to not-for-profits including Chatham House, Greenpeace and Human Rights Watch. They help organisations convey their message clearly and effectively to bring about positive change. During this session, which will be tailored for equality organisations, you will learn how to develop a communications strategy and will be given a comms strategy template to take away. The trainers will walk you through the process of ensuring your comms - as an organisation or on a specific project - are as strategic as possible. This includes thinking through your overall objectives, your key target audiences, key messages, priority communications channels, and creative tactics (including media and digital), as well as how to measure impact.This masterclass is two hours long and will include a break and plenty of time for Q&A.Learning outcomes:<ul><li>Feel confident to develop your own communications strategy for your organisation or campaign</li><li>Learn how to set communications objectives and think strategically about why you want to communicate</li><li>Discover tools to map who you want to reach, including learning the difference between primary and secondary targets</li><li>Learn tips for how to communicate effectively through the media, social media and other channels</li></ul>Your TrainersThe session will be facilitated by Amy Barry and Jon Date<a href="https://digacommunications.com/about-us/amy-barry" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Amy Barry</a> is a former newspaper journalist turned comms professional. She is the director and founder of di:ga Communications, which advises some of the world’s leading charities and research institutions. Before setting up di:ga ten years ago, Amy was director of communications at Global Witness, head of news at Oxfam GB and a journalist at The Times and Mail on Sunday.<a href="https://digacommunications.com/about-us/jon-date" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jon Date</a> is a communications, advocacy and campaigning expert. He joined di:ga Communications in January 2020 as a senior associate, and has worked with clients including Chatham House, Crisis Action and SumOfUs. Before di:ga Jon worked in advocacy and campaigning roles in not-for-profits, including as head of government relations for Oxfam GB.Attendance EligibilityThis session is aimed at charity professionals in the equalities sector who work in a communications, media, social media, campaigning or a strategy role.LevelIt is suitable for people responsible for communications or media relations within their organisation, as well as for senior leaders who want to think about how their organisation can communicate more effectively.Please note that places will be served on a first come first served basis.Zoom details will be sent via an email ahead of the masterclass.
