Mental health challenges can present a challenge to Christian spirituality.

How do we find faith, hope and love amidst the struggles that ensue when we face anxiety, depression, psychosis, or other mental health problems? Sometimes it feels as though God is struggling with (against) us.

This lecture will explore the nature of these struggles and the resources that Christian spirituality offers to help us.

Chris Cook is Emeritus Professor in Spirituality, Theology & Health at Durham University. His books include (with Isabelle Hamley & John Swinton) Struggling with God (2023).
