A panel discussion focusing on Knowledge Exchange practice undertaken by students in Higher Education

The first TCCE Creative Entrepreneurship Forum of the new academic year will focus on Knowledge Exchange practice undertaken by students within Higher Education.In this informal event, panelists from Kingston University, Anglia Ruskin University, and Plymouth University will share examples of best practice in student knowledge exchange discussing two OfS funded projects, Students at the Heart of Knowledge Exchange (SHoKE), and Engaging Students in Knowledge Exchange; alongside Kingston School of Art project Not My Beautiful House and collaboration with charity Community Brain. We will also hear from representatives at Research England about the call for OfS funded projects and around the importance of KE. We will consider the benefits of this type of activity to students and society, share best practice in student KE and reflect on any changes that need to be made to curricula and/or KE approaches in order to maximise those for both the students and their collaborative partners. Through longitudinal evaluation, the project is designed to better understand and evidence the benefit to students engaging in KE activity with business and community partners, and seeks to maximise the potential of these opportunities; creating interventions to address barriers to participation and identifying and sharing best practice. The University of Plymouth is one of only twenty Higher Education providers awarded funding from the Office for Students and Research England’s funding competition, designed to explore the impact of student involvement in knowledge exchange. Community Brain is a charity that uses the arts, local history, social enterprise and community-led regeneration to develop local identity and community cohesion through a broad range of projects. These include public art works, the regeneration of Tolworth Station, the community-led regeneration project SHEDx and more. The Community Brain works in close partnership with Kingston University on many projects in the area of Kingston and beyond. Not my Beautiful House is a multi-purpose venue managed by Kingston University students which showcases creative pieces from students, alumni and small businesses. This crowdfunded, community-led, creative hub contains a shop and gallery aiming to inspire people into education and training. Students at the Heart of Knowledge Exchange (SHoKE) is an OfS project at Anglia Ruskin University which connects student volunteers and employers from local organisations to work together to develop innovative solutions to community problems and generate real societal change. Joining informationThe TCCE Creative Entrepreneurship Forum is chaired by Prof. Maria Chatzichristodoulou, Kingston University, and Suzie Leighton, TCCE. This event is free, however advanced booking is essential. Academics and staff from TCCE member institutions are guaranteed a place (please use your institutional email to book in order to avoid confusion), other places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so please book promptly to avoid disappointment.PLEASE NOTE: A Zoom Link will be circulated a day or two before the event
