Study Visit: Costume Accessories
Overview
This study visit will give you the opportunity to examine some beautiful items from our collection up close. The focus of this session will be on fashionable costume accessories from the late 18th century through to thre 20th century and will include examples of shoes, hats, gloves, shawls, fans, bags and more!
The session will be guided by the collection's Curator who will talk you through each set of objects and point out interesting details about their design, constructiuon and use.
If you are interested in historical fashion and accessories this is a great chance to get to see some original historic pieces up close, learn more about them and meet other people who share your interest.
On the Day
Please make sure to arrive between 12.45pm and 12.55pm for a prompt 1pmm start.
One of our team will meet you at Reception, in the building just next to Brierfield Railway Station, and will direct you through to our Studio where the workshop will take place.
Please note that the reception will only be staffed from 12:45 onwards, so if you arrive before this you will not be able to enter early. If you arrive early there is an onsite coffee shop where you may wish to relax and purchase refreshments.
Refreshments
A selection of hot and cold drinks will be available for you to have during a refreshment breaks and are included in the price of the workshop.
If you wish to have lunch on site before the study visit you can visit the onsite coffee shop Black Sheep Coffee which sells a range of drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

This event will take place at Gawthorpe Textiles Collection’s venue at Northlight House, a converted textile mill in Brierfield, Lancashire. The address is:

There is free car parking available on site, and we are just across the road from Brierfield train station. There is step-free access from the street or car park to our Studio but please be aware there are areas of the car park which have significant slope to them.

The building and workshop Studio have step free access and wide doorways. There are accessible toilets on site close to the Studio.
