Substack Writers’ Meetup

The Writers WorkshopSheffield City Centre, England
Thursday, May 21  •  10 AM - 11:30 AM
Overview

A group for anyone writing or contemplating setting up a Substack newsletter.

Whether you are already writing on Substack but aren’t sure what to do next, would like to get started but don’t know how, or for those who are just Substack curious. This is an opportunity to get to know other Substack writers and find out how to find joy in sharing your writing online.

The group will be coordinated by Kate Jones, a writer and essayist who has been running a successful, bestselling Substack for almost four years, all without a social media presence.

Kate will gently coordinate discussions around idea development, honing your niche, and the practicalities of sharing your writing online. She will provide some tips she has learned along the way, and share the joys and challenges of building an online audience for your work.

Participants will be encouraged to contribute to the discussions and to get feedback on their ideas for their own Substacks. The group’s purpose will be to help members find support and encouragement as they build their own newsletter.

The Substack Writers’ Meetup is co-ordinated by Kate Jones, a freelance writer and creative mentor, publishing in many online journals in various genres. Holding a Masters in English Studies, she runs the bestselling Substack ‘A Narrative of Their Own,’ where she discusses the literature and life of literary women.

The Writers Workshop’s space in Orchard Square, Sheffield, has no step-free access. However, accessibility is important to us, and we have partnered with a nearby venue to facilitate access to our events. Step-free access tickets are available to purchase until 3 days prior to the event.

Please note that this event is online advance booking only: no walkups on the day.

The Writers Workshop is a nonprofit social enterprise on a mission to enable everyone to experience the joy and power of creative writing, both at our venue in Sheffield and online. Members of the Writers Workshop get a discount on all our events and other perks. For more information, visit www.thewritersworkshop.co.uk.
