About this course

This course is a beginner guide to decorating and covering a small cake. You will learn how to roll out the fondant icing and cover a dummy cake, using smoothers and a knife or pizza cutter.  

You will learn skills and techniques to smooth the icing in preparation to decorate with frills and a bow.      

By attending this course, you will have learn how to cover a dummy cake in fondant and then decorate it with frills and a bow.  We will cover: 

• How to soften and roll out the fondant  

• How to place the fondant onto the dummy cake 

• How to smooth the icing  

• How to add frills and a bow to complete the cake 

Resources required by attendees

  • Dummy cake 
  • Fondant Icing using any colour of choice  
  • Board  
  • Rolling pin 
  • Corn flour 
  • Ball tool 
  • Dresden tool  
  • Cell pad  
  • Drying foam  
  • Small circle cutter for ruffles: 50/50 fondant florist paste Fold the circle in half, half again and pinch, S shape.  
  • Edible glue 
  • Cocktail stick  
  • Craft knife or knife  
  • Edible dust  
  • Paintbrushes for glue and dusting 
  • Note pad and pen

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
