Join us to celebrate 230 years of Sydney Gardens in true Toppings style - with a fabulous literary walk!

The Friends of Sydney Gardens have written a beautiful, lively book full of history and facts about the park. The book celebrates 230 years of this amazing pleasure garden, and all proceeds raised from the sale of the book will be spent on preserving the beauty of Sydney Gardens. The price of the tour includes the book.

The Friends of Sydney Garden are currently fundraising to reopen a large area of the park, currently closed to the public, called the Compound. The Compound houses a very unique and historically significant feature – the only remaining Supper Box in England. The Supper Box is currently a ruin in the park and we are fundraising to save this important structure from complete decay and destruction. Supper Boxes were the precursor of modern–day restaurants and were very popular in Georgian England. Sydney Gardens once had almost 50 Supper Boxes.
