Sunset Guided Bat Walk
Organised by Prestwich Environmental Forum

Join us on Tuesday 19th May for a relaxed evening guided bat walk through the beautiful surroundings of Prestwich, supported by South Lancashire Bat Group.

Whether you’ve done something similar before or never even realised we have bats in Prestwich, this event is open to everyone. This is a family-friendly wander as we search the local area for our bat friends. Along the way, we’ll learn about our local bats, their favourite habitats, and their behaviours.

We’ll be hoping for plenty of sightings depending on the conditions, although unfortunately we can’t guarantee them!

🗓️ Tuesday 19th May 2026
Meet from 8:45pm for a 9:00pm start. The walk will last approximately 60–90 minutes and will finish near Prestwich Village.

📍 Meeting point:
Warwick Street Green, on the corner of Warwick St & Greengate Ln, Prestwich, M25 3HW.

👟 Accessibility & what to bring:
This is a gentle walk designed to be inclusive* and welcoming. Please wear suitable footwear for light walking and uneven surfaces. Feel free to bring a torch if you wish.

*We will be covering some uneven ground; however, if there is anything we can do to help make this event more suitable for those with varying mobility or accessibility needs, please email us as soon as possible at prestwichEF@gmail.com.

🌥️ The weather:

Please wear warm clothing suitable for light walking after dark and appropriate for the weather forecast. The walk will go ahead in rain or cold weather however, in the event of extreme wind, a decision will be made by the group at the meeting point, as strong winds can prevent bats from flying.

👨‍👩‍👧 Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. Come along, get outdoors, and see Prestwich in a whole new light!

If the event becomes fully booked, we have added a capped waiting list so you can get first refusal on any cancelled tickets.

This is a free event facilitated by Prestwich Environmental Forum. If you would like to make a small donation to help us continue offering similar events in the future, details can be found here. All donations are entirely optional.

This event is supported by Parklife funding.
