Working at the bench or in the field as part of an active research group often involves sharing the responsibility of supervising Undergraduate or Master’s students. Often, a research group leader might actually have very little involvement in the day-to-day teaching and advising on these projects, and these duties might be passed to postdocs or PhD students working on the same project or the same space. In this session, we’ll look at how to supervise and the common issues this brings, what the limits of what your responsibilities are (or should be), and also at making the most of the experience you’ll gain, for example, by applying for RET or HEA Fellowship.
