The UK aviation industry has pledged to cut its net carbon emissions to zero by 2050 through more energy efficient aircraft, more sustainable manufacturing, and optimising operations.The digitalisation of business operations and concepts, such as the emergence of Industry 4.0, Digital Twins, and Artificial Intelligence are helping businesses to accelerate the digitalisation of business operations and optimisation of supply chains. To achieve the target of zero net carbon emission in aviation industry, a novel aviation supply chain from product design to end-of-life management is needed, to extract the maximum value from resources and materials by incorporating state of the art digital systems.Incorporating digitalisation and technology transformation will enable aviation stakeholders to create their own digital environments, enhance supply chain visibility, identify risks, and accelerate decision making.
