Sustainable Patchwork: A Beginner’s Workshop

Sustainable Patchwork: A Beginner’s Workshop

Overview

New to patchwork? Learn beginner-friendly techniques while upcycling fabric in a relaxed, hands-on workshop. No experience needed!

This Beginner’s Sustainable Patchwork Workshop is a fun, relaxed introduction to patchwork sewing with an eco-friendly twist. Hosted by designer and teacher Anne Morgan at the creative hub The Paradigm Shift Open Studio in Leith, the class is perfect for complete beginners.

You’ll learn simple patchwork techniques with a focus on hand sewing, working mindfully with beautiful fabric scraps from Anne’s Design collection to create something both lovely and useful — perhaps a charming pin cushion or a fragrant lavender sachet. 🧵🌸

You’re very welcome to bring your own fabrics too, especially cotton or linen pieces you’d love to give a second life. Sustainability is all part of the joy here. But I provide everything.

The workshop is taught at an easy, beginner-friendly pace in a supportive, welcoming space, with plenty of guidance, encouragement, and time to play and experiment.

No prior sewing experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to have a go (and maybe fall a little bit in love with patchwork).

Getting here: The easiest way to reach the class is by tram, getting off at the bottom of Leith Walk. You then walk all the way along Great Junction Street. There are busses that arrive outside the door as well.
