More detail

Come and explore with us the lesser-known quiet, leafy, historic streets of Tilehurst, lined with magnificent mature trees planted by our forbears in the Victorian age. Walking through Arthur Newbery Park, we will pause to identify a wide range of beautiful (and some unusual) tree species, with gorgeous views over the Thames Valley, ending the walk with a peek at trees inside the gated Kentwood House estate.

About the walk leader

The walk is led by Anna Iwaschkin, founding member of Reading Tree Wardens and very experienced in the field.

"I have specialised in designing urban tree walks for Reading people to learn about and enjoy Reading's wonderful collection of tree species. I have overseen the design of seven Reading urban tree walks, including open spaces and riverside, all available as self-guided leaflets on www.readingtreewardens.org.uk. This was my first walk."

Getting there

Tilehurst Railway Station RG31 6TH https://what3words.com/lease.liver.frost. A half-hourly train service leaves Reading station for Tilehurst. The 16 bus leaving town centre at Cheapside stops at Kentwood Roundabout, Oxford Road. Then about a 50m walk along Oxford Road takes you to Tilehurst station.
