TANGLE 10 CAFÉ

Tangle is an award-winning touring theatre company championing African Caribbean artistic excellence. Their touring productions, ‘Discovery’ education programme, and artist development scheme, Amplify, provide a vital access point for diverse and often isolated communities, artists and audiences to come together. In their ten-year history they have developed a particular specialism of touring rejuvenated classics to and working in rural areas where there is little inter-cultural interface. To date, they have produced four touring productions, from the TMA Award-winning Everyman in 2009 to the sell out tour of Doctor Faustus in 2018, supported the career development of over 300 artists and commissioned more than 30 writers and musicians.  Tangle’s touring productions have a unique aesthetic – a contemporary synthesis of Western classical theatre and the township style of Southern Africa.www.tangletheatre.co.uk

Join us in celebrating 10 years of Tangle in our biggest Tangle Café yet! To mark the occasion we have organised an evening of short performances from some of Tangle's most loved productions. <A HREF="https://givergy.uk/tangle/?controller=lots&category=All%20Lots" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Postcards from our online auction will be on display and available for you to place your bids</A>! This is also an opportunity for us to thank you for being part of our journey, so please raise a glass and shake a leg with us in celebrating the past and future of Tangle. 
There will be performance extracts throughout the night of works past and present including Cont Mhlanga's WORKSHOP NEGATIVE, Paula B Stanic's UNDER A FADING LIGHT, Esther O'Toole's THE CROSSING, Chino Odimba's poem, HOPE and a special performance of original composition SO I CAME HERE by Allyson Devenish and performed by the Tangle Choir.
The extracts will be performed by Jude Akuwudike, Sibusiso Mamba, Sydney Smith, Marshall Defender Nyanhete and Alexander Mushore as well as our township ensemble, Tangle Company - Shereena Glean, Hannah Sinclair Robinson, Antonia Kemi Coker, Michael Offei and Munashe Chirisa.
We will also have music will be provided by <A HREF="https://floorshowdjs.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">FloorShowDJs </A>and light bites by Rainbow Bakery, Dalston. There will be plenty of opportunities for networking and the chance to view installations from multidisciplinary artist Hamed Maiye who founded the arts movement ‘Afro-Portraitism
Artist's postcards exhibited include Sir Ian McKellen CH CBE, Jason Cooper from rock band The Cure, exciting visual artists Joseph Kosuth, Harold Offeh, Gavin Turk, Doug Fishbone, Rudy Loewe, Rhea Dillon and Rosa Johan Uddoh, and renowned contemporary dance choreographer Mark Baldwin OBE
