Tanzania Mapping Groups July Mapathon

Crowd2Map Tanzaniais a crowdsourced mapping project aiming to put rural Tanzania on the map. Since 2015, we have been adding schools, hospitals, roads, buildings and villages to OpenStreetMap with the help of over 9500 volunteers worldwide and on the ground in Tanzania. We are concentrating first on the areas where girls are at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM).  So far we have  added almost 3 million buildings .  We were awarded a microgrant by Humanitarian OpenStreetMap to train community mappers in26 areas of Tanzania, and organised a mapathon at UNFPA as part of the UN General Assembly in September 2018.  We have also been featured onAl Jazeera,The GuardianandMissing Maps.

Join us for the 5th  monthly Tanzanian mapathon to share good practice and map Tanzania!

Join us for this session to share good practice and learn new skills from the Tanzanian mapping community. This will be a regular event hosted by different youthmapper and community groups who will showcase their work. It will be an opportunity to learn new skills and create new partnerships. Further details to follow. We will also discuss what we want from future sessions and do some mapping!Everyone interested in mapping is welcome. The session will be in English and Swahili.
