Would you like to learn more about Italian Tarantella? Then this is the right event for you. Come along and have fun!

St James' Church

With the sponsorship of Exeter Communities Together (ECT), the Italian Cultural Association Exeter together with La Tarantella Exeter are happy to present a series of dance workshops dedicated to the folk traditions of Southern Italy. During this three-hour workshop we will travel from Naples and its surroundings to the south-east of Italy. We will learn about pagan and frenzied folk dances like Tammurriata (Naples) and Pizzica Pizzica (Apulia). This time we will also familiarize with some traditional Italian folk songs. In particular, we will aim to teach you some chorus and response songs and some modal singing from the Southern tradition. It will also be a chance to explore some history behind the songs and have an insight into the language used.
No singing experience necessary, just your willingness to find some joy in singing together!The workshops are open to everyone but it is advisable to check with your GP before taking part. Please wear comfortable clothing. The cost of £5 per workshop will go towards the Italian Cultural Association Exeter.
