Taster Pottery Workshop

Creative pottery workshop for adults every Saturday at Liberation Art Gallery, hosted by our resident ceramic artist in central Brighton.

Join us for an amazing pottery experience at our weekly pottery workshop here at Liberation Art Gallery! Discover the art of working with clay in a supportive, creative studio environment. This hands-on class at Liberation Art Gallery introduces participants to essential pottery techniques, including hand-building and slab construction.

You will learn how to shape, refine and personalise your pieces, explore surface design, and firing is available onsite to create finished ceramic works. You will also get the chance to create a charming handmade pinch bowl, or an item of your choice, exploring various modelling techniques with specialised tools. We will guide you with each step, ensuring you leave with not only a beautiful finished piece but also a newfound appreciation for the art of pottery and a skill you continue to grow with.

This creative workshop includes 1.5 hours of handbuilding with clay. You can choose to add wheel throwing (see add-on options). Adults (+16) are welcome. For children's booking, see our Children's Pottery Workshop (in Eventbrite). All materials are provided, just remember to bring along an old t-shirt for a mess-free experience!

Our Approach
Sessions are led by our resident artists, trained to degree level in their specialism, all experienced in wellbeing-led creative practice, creating a calm, supportive and inspiring environment where everyone can feel safe, confident and creatively free.

This workshop is the perfect way for you to immerse yourself in clay, enjoy the process of making, and create with guidance in a friendly, professional environment.

Firing

You can either choose to fire your pottery (just £5 per person) or take away your pottery. If you choose to fire, this enables you to return and glaze your ceramics. Firing typically takes 4-6 weeks. You must collect fired pieces within 60 days, as we cannot guarantee your piece will be in the gallery space due to our storage capacity.

With all workshop materials and tools provided, this setup allows you to fully enjoy your creative experience without worrying about additional costs, so you can focus entirely on making art and having fun.

Cancellation Policy:

We understand that plans can change, and we do our best to be fair whilst protecting the sustainability of our workshops.

• Cancellations or date changes must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled workshops
• Cancellations made within 48 hours of the workshop or non-attendance on the day are non-refundable

• As a goodwill gesture, we are happy to offer a transfer to a future workshop of equal value, subject to availability, when at least 48 hours' notice is given
• Workshop credits must be used within 3 months of the original workshop date and cannot be exchanged for cash
• We are unable to offer refunds or workshop transfers for same-day cancellations. As materials, artist fees and staffing are already committed.
• In rare and exceptional circumstances, please contact us directly. Any discretion offered is at the Liberation Art gallery's discretion.
