"The biggest...sensation (at WOMAD) had to be TC & the Groove Family. Despite being up against headliners Gogol Bordello they...pulled in a more-than-capacity dancing crowd...rewarding them with fiery baritone sax solos from Hannah Mae-Birtwell, Max Purcell-Burrows’ cool trombone and a particularly impressive extended trumpet solo from Grifton Forbes-Amos. - Jazzwise Magazine
TC & The Groove Family are a 10-piece collective whose music celebrates the coming together of cultures, and the unity that music can provide for everyone. Their sound reflects the diverse musical and cultural backgrounds at the core of the project, exploring grooves and genres including afrobeat, broken beat, jungle, jazz and grime.
Driven by drummer Tim Cook (TC), fronted by Sheffield wordsmith Franz Von, and powered by an engine room complete with horns, percussion, guitars and bass, their live shows are impactful and dynamic, creating moments of euphoria and stillness to keep audiences on their toes. The band have supported the likes of Vieux Farka Touré, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, K.O.G, Nubiyan Twist and Yussef Dayes en route to becoming one of the most sought after live acts on the UK jazz circuit.
“It wasn’t just the music that made the night memorable, it was the vibe. TC & The Groove Family create a feeling of connection and shared experience, weaving messages of unity and celebration into every performance. They’ve earned a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting live acts right now." - WordPlay Magazine
