Description

The conference is open to all teachers of maths and maths subject leaders.

This one day event will provide high-quality maths CPD designed to meet the needs and challenges of teachers teaching maths.

It will be held on Wednesday 13 February 2019 from 8:00 to 16:00 in Northampton.




The Agenda

The keynote speech will be presented by teacher, author and mathematician Andrew Jeffrey who will be introducing practical and innovative ideas on how to make teaching and learning maths motivational and memorable.


Workshops and networking opportunities for Primary and Secondary colleagues will include:

  • All the most up to date research on teaching for mastery at primary including practical ideas and resources for the classroom.

  • Guidance on teaching the most Challenging Topics at GCSE and how we can support our students to become confident mathematicians and achieve GCSE success.


Primary workshops will be led by Ruth Edwards & Cat Stone of the Enigma Maths Hub and Dill Dias and Sharon Bolger of Harris Federation:

  • Introduction to mastery primary

  • Practical sessions on Teaching for Mastery – What this looks like in practice in Primary

  • Representations and Structures

  • Primary Teach Meet with network activities


Secondary workshops will be led by Jo Morgan & Chris Reilly of Harris Federation and Peter Mattock of East Midlands South Maths Hub:

  • Challenging Topics at GCSE

  • Mathematical Thinking

  • GCSE Success - Success in the 1 – 9 Mathematics Assessments Top Tips but no quick fixes

  • Secondary Teach Meet - with network activities


At the event delegates will also have the opportunity to speak to exhibitors showcasing maths resources and maths funding programmes.

Registration for places must be made through this Eventbrite page. All places are free of charge. All delegates are expected to attend for the full day.

Travel to the venue:

The Park Inn Hotel is a 2 minute walk from Northampton train station. It is recommended that delegates arrive by public transport as parking is limited and chargeable in the hotel and surrounding streets.
