Do you need a PGCE to be a teacher?

Accepted Answer

To be a qualified teacher you must have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) where as  a PGCE is an academic qualification.  Some providers bundle a PGCE with QTS, we offer it as an option as some trainee teachers have caring responsibilities that they have to juggle, so this is why we make it an option.

Question 2

I don't have GCSEs in English/Maths/Science at a grade C/4, how can I apply to teacher training?

Accepted Answer

We offer our own equivalency tests that are free and candidates who are successful at interview have passing the equivalency test as a condition.  We don't accept commercial tests, so please don't pay for one.  If we see potential in you, we will help you overcome this hurdle.

Where will my placements be?

We have two placements each year for the trainees and we arrange these.  Our placement schools are in Bromley and Greenwich.
