Tech Dives: Do Blockchain and AI work together?

Blockchain and AI have generated both huge interest and investment from public and private sectors alike. While their potential is there for all to see, their potential to transform industries has often been clouded by intense media hype. Furthermore, many are now mentioning the two in the same breath, with companies such as SingularityNET building decentralised AI solutions and using blockchain to improve the quality of data in their machine learning models.

Many dismiss this as a cynical marketing exercise, but is there a grain of truth there? Are companies that claim to have combined the two to deadly effect set to change the world, or does the emperor have no clothes?

This meetup will see leading researchers and developers from across blockchain and AI explore these two technologies potential to join forces. You’ll hear unbiased, hype-free viewpoints and gain an inside look into current blockchain and AI projects that are pushing into exciting new fields.

This event will be held at the Primalbase London offices in Moorgate, London on the 17th of September 2019. Doors open at 18:00. Refreshments will also be provided.

Speakers
Laurence Kirk, Founder of Extropy.io, a consultancy working with start-ups in the UK and overseas to develop blockchain solutions. Laurence holds a Physics degree from Durham University, and is currently taking his MSc in Software Engineering at Oxford University. In addition to giving talks, mentoring at hackathons, and running groups about blockchain technology, Laurence also helps to organise an Artificial Intelligence group in Oxford.

David Wood, Chair of London Futurists and Board Advisor at Singularity Studio. David Wood spent 25 years in the mobile computing and smartphone industry, holding executive roles at Psion Software, Symbian, and Accenture Mobility.

Irene Lopez de Vallejo, Founding Team Member Ocean Protocol, Director of International Partnerships and Business Development of DEX, and Co-Founder of GivingStreets, which is committed to make our increasingly cashless society inclusive for all.

Fernando Martinho, Co-Founder and CTO of Naoris, a distributed cybersecurity ecosystem that re-engineers the way cybersecurity is thought about and delivered. A serial innovator with a track record of delivering profit-driven technology innovation and solutions.

Toby Simpson, CTO and co-Founder at Fetch.AI. With over 25 years of experience in software architecture and development, Toby has built and directed several successful computer games and acted as the CTO across three companies.
