Techne, Soil and Threads
Panel discussion in response to Ninon Ardisson's LOAM residency and exhibition with British Textiles Biennial and Creative Spaces Burnley.
A conversation with Ninon Ardisson (BTB25 artist, UAL), Rebecca Aston (Goldsmiths) and Dr Hunter Brueggemann (UAL) on reimagining the relationship between technology and nature through the language of fibre art. Together, the speakers consider how artistic practice can unearth new ways of sensing and shaping the world, where threads become lines of relation between techne and soil.
Chaired by Gavin Parry, Creative Director, Creative Spaces Burnley.
Dr MJ Hunter Brueggemann (UAL), researcher in cyborg and posthuman theory, postcolonial theory, sustainable design, and design justice, and is currently leading UAL’s work on decolonising the syllabus.
Rebecca Aston (Goldsmiths), Head of MA Computational Arts and part of In-grid, a transfeminist collective of artists, educators and technologists working in and around digital infrastructures. She is currently Arts Council funded for her research on spinning her own conductive yarn.
This event takes place on the first floor at Creative Spaces Burnley, accessed via stairs.
Following the panel discussion, join us for a live performance at The Salon with composer and piainist Narotam Horn, sound creator for LOAM. More details and to book a free ticket: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/resonant-ground-tickets-1869626295579?aff=oddtdtcreator
