Technology for Community Nursing

Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber is one of 15 health innovation networks set up by NHS England to operate as the key innovation arm of the NHS.Across the country health innovation networks act as a bridge between health care providers, commissioners, academia and industry. By connecting these sectors, we help to build a pipeline of solutions for the NHS from research and product development through to implementation and commercialisation.Locally we work in partnership with our regional health and care community and develop projects, programmes and initiatives that reflect the diversity and meet the needs of our local populations and health care challenges.We understand the needs of our health systems and are well placed to broker innovative solutions, while collaborating with health innovation networks across England to take what works best and quickly spread it nationally.At  Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber we believe in the power of new ideas to improve lives and our ambition is to work together with all our partners to make life better for the people in our region by improving their health and care and by creating a thriving economy for everyone.

Together with NHS England’s Nursing Directorate, The Yorkshire &amp; Humber AHSN is hosting an event for community nurses and commercial organisations focused on exploring the challenges faced by community nurses in completing their day-day duties. 
 A recent 2018 <A HREF="https://www.qni.org.uk/resources/nursing-in-the-digital-age/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">report</A> by the Queen’s Nursing Institute (Nursing in the Digital Age) suggests that 29% of community nurses are still working largely with paper-based systems which has a significant impact on their productivity and ability to deliver consistent high-quality patient care.
Several high-profile speakers including Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, CEO of the Queen’s Nursing Institute and Emma Self, Community Nursing Lead for NHS England, will open the event and outline the background and scale of the challenges. Also on the discussion panel will be Heather Caudle, NHS England's Director of Nursing - Improvement. 
The event will explore the challenges faced by community nurses from a range of different perspectives and hear about technology which has the potential to significantly improve productivity, employee satisfaction and patient care.  
We will also hear from organisations which have successfully implemented technology to support their community teams and observed a positive impact on their workforce and the patients under their care. 
Following the event there will be opportunities for clinical and commercial representatives to work with the Yorkshire &amp; Humber AHSN to support the adoption and spread of technology.
