On 9 May 2019, we will hold the inaugural TEDxSherborne, a one day celebration of ideas on the theme of 'Fit For The Future'. Our aim is to help address the most important social and environmental challenges that we face as a community and to act as a catalyst for action.

We are thrilled that TEDxSherborne will be one of the first events to be held in the brand new state-of-the-art Arts Centre at Sherborne Girls school.

The event will feature 14 selected speakers – from a world-renowned travel writer to a mental health advocate, a Member of Youth Parliament for Dorset to a pioneering social worker – will address a different aspect of what it means to be, ‘Fit for the Future, People and Place,’ (the event’s theme). The resulting programme of talks will be both fascinating and diverse; from a coming mental health crisis to valuing the marginalised, reading as a radical act to a communal approach to education, young people’s disengagement with politics to the art of growing old.

Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Whilst there is no formal minimum age requirement to attend the event, given the subject matter that we are exploring and nature of the content of some of our speakers' talks, we would consider the event unsuitable for children under the age of 12.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There will be plenty of free parking available for the TEDxSherborne audience at Oxley's Sports Centre car park. There will also be a limited number of disabled parking spaces available adjacent to the Arts Centre venue. For those travelling by train, the venue is a 5-10 minute walk from Sherborne Train Station.

What can I bring into the event?

Just bring yourselves, with an open heart and mind. Mobile telephones will be allowed, but must be put into silent mode so as not to disturb our speakers and performers, who will be being filmed.
