Tees Valley Roadshow

The Forum Music StudiosDarlington, England
Saturday, Feb 28, 2026 from 11:30 am to 3 pm GMT
Overview

Join us in Darlington for an afternoon of insight on navigating the writing industries and applying for the Tees Valley Award.

Writers and writing professionals will share insight on navigating the writing industries, and offer guidance to writers of fiction and narrative non-fiction who are interested in applying for the Tees Valley Writers’ Award and other opportunities offered through the Northern Writers’ Awards.

The Tees Valley Writers’ Award has been established to offer developmental support to a writer living in the Tees Valley with a work in progress showing potential for publication. The award is open to writers at any stage of their writing career.

New Writing North's Will Mackie (Senior Programme Manager, Talent Development) will be joined by writer and editor Ashley Thorpe (The Boy to Beat the Gods), the middle-grade writer Mike Edwards (Riverskin), acclaimed novelist, poet and dramatist Carmen Marcus (How Saints Die), writer and editor-in-chief of Teesside literary magazine Transporter Jonny Aldridge, and award-winning writer and Creative Futures writer-in-residence for 2025 Shazia Altaf. The event will include a Q&A session where attendees can pose their questions to the panel.

Bursary tickets available on request – please contact SarahFrance@newwritingnorth.com.
