Tetra-Decathlon

Showroomis an award-winning theatre company committed to working with the finest independent artists and small companies, providing producing support and organisational structure to those with none. The company’s work includes Scottish tours of Jenna Watt’s How You Gonna Live Your Dash, New Room Theatre’s Blackout and Sleeping Warrior’s The Rise and Inevitable Fall of Lucas Petit. At the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, the company produced Denton and Me (Sam Rowe, part of the Made in Scotland Showcase in co-production with Macrobert Arts Centre), Epic Love and Pop Songs (co-production with Pleasance) and Jenna Watt’s Fringe First winning Faslane (in association with Contact). Forthcoming work includes Tetra-Decathlon by Lauren Hendry, part of Festival 2018, the cultural programme of the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

The Tetra-Decathlon is a gruelling 14-event track and field competition, requiring a unique combination of skills to complete. Having never set foot on a running track in her life, Lauren Hendry decided to sign up for the event, joining only a dozen other women in the World Championships.  
This amusingly audacious solo show charts Lauren’s journey as she trains for and competes in this most taxing of sporting events, whilst asking pertinent questions about the psychology of sport and what drives us to compete. Tetra-Decathlon is a celebration of coming last, and then coming back for more…
