About the Artists
Mother of The Insane (Summer Moraes) is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily through writing and performance. She writes wacky short stories infused with horror, surrealism and absurdity, and her live readings often take shape as immersive performances, animated by props and headpieces she designs to fuse storytelling and theatre. She is also the host of the WORMS Magazine podcast.
Matthew David Andrews is a fashion designer based in Essex (UK) and a recent BA Womenswear graduate from Central Saint Martins. ‘My childhood was packed with creativity. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my mum making treasure chests out of cardboard boxes. I would come home from school, pick a topic from the encyclopaedia, and build enormous displays on my bedroom walls of everything I had discovered and learned. Growing up as a queer person, it was vital to have creativity as a way to express myself and escape the daily criticism I experienced. Being able to make has always brought me solace.’
TEXTUS POETICS is a new poetry and performance night bringing together writers, artists and fashion designers to explore the dynamic relationship between text and textile, language and fashion. Each event invites audiences to experience literature, textiles and fashion in unexpected and imaginative ways.
