TEXTUS POETICS 2: WHAT’S.THE.REFERENCE?
TEXTUS and REFERENCE.POINT invite you to TEXTUS POETICS 2: WHAT’S.THE REFERENCE?, a unique fashion-poetry performance night
Part of ALTERNATIVE FASHION WEEK at REFERENCE.POINT
Featuring: Lore Archive, Troy Cabida, Molly Emma, Mijoda Dajomi, Lottie McCrindell, Stuart McKenzie and Phoenix Yemi. With a special DJ set by Lana Mawlood
Set within Reference Point, references from the collection and beyond, will be projected behind each reader as they trace how fashion and material culture has inspired their poetry.
Molly Emma and Phoenix Yemi will perform new poems responding to historical garments from Lore Archive — an artist-led archive founded and run by Sophie Turner. Stuart McKenzie, who worked as a studio assistant to Vivienne Westwood in the early 1990s and went on to become a fashion illustrator, will perform a special set of fashion-inspired poems. Lottie McCrindell will perform new poems responding to fashion designer Mijoda Dajomi’s collection Daughters of Rain. Troy Cabida, whose poetry is deeply attuned to the intersections of dress, the body, desire and queerness, will perform a fashion-focused poetry set.
Select publications and objects by the contributors will be exhibited and available to purchase on the night
Curated by Lottie McCrindell, TEXTUS POETICS is a new poetry and performance night bringing together writers, artists and fashion designers to explore the dynamic relationship between text and textile, language and fashion. Each event invites audiences to experience literature, textiles and fashion in unexpected and imaginative ways.
Schedule:
7PM Doors
