The Arts Society N. Ireland Lecture: The Late High Renaissance in Venice
The Late High Renaissance in Venice by Charlie Hall
With Venice firmly established as one of the great centres of artistic production in the sixteenth century, with painters such as Titian, Giorgione, Carpaccio and the Bellini family successfully exporting their artistic vision out of the city, a new generation of artists and architects emerged, inspired by 'outsiders' such as Sansovino from Florence, Andrea Palladio from Vicenza, and Paolo Cagliari from Verona, a new approach and look emerged, that would dominate art and architecture for decades.
