Assignment is a creative photography masterclass examining, supporting and improving your career. The one-off day is being run in conjunction with the exhibition Overhaul, which is showing at <A HREF="https://www.peckham24.com/about/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Peckham 24</A> - Contemporary Photography Festival.
 
The exhibition explores the collision of collaboration, science, and research led enquiries drawing from The Peckham Experiment which took place between 1926-1950. The pioneering initiative was set up to study rising concerns over health and well being.
 
Assignment is an intimate workshop formed of just 15 participants. It will consist of specialist sessions, tailored advice and a practical group exercise. Work made during the practical session will be included in the collaboration section of the Overhaul exhibition. Participants will be invited to the private view Friday 18th May. In addition to the masterclass attendees will receive a one-to-one follow up session to discuss the progress made and challenges ahead.
 
Natasha Caruana will run an informal and practical opening session on presenting your work in public. The do’s and don’ts to make your work stand out in different contexts - from portfolios reviews, public talks, encounters at private views and, applying to competitions. Natasha will support you to create the story behind the work and give feedback on areas to be improved.
 
Laura Pannack will provide an insight into connecting with others and building a relationship with sitters. The focus will be on overcoming boundaries, approaching strangers and gaining trust. Participants will be given practical tasks and encouraged to step outside of their comfort zones. The results and experiences will then be discussed as a group. This will be a overhaul for the photographers to look at how they approach portraiture.
 
Rhiannon Adam’s work places importance on the photograph as a physical object, and the ways in which its chemical formation and physicality can be manipulated to allude to the world beyond the frame. Rhiannon will be demonstrating and discussing various experimental and analogue processes and ways of incorporating them in your own work.
 
The day will finish with an editing strategies session run by all three photographers. It will explore the step-by-step process of editing, sequencing, and constructing a compelling body of work. The session will end with individual goal setting ahead of the one-to-one follow up session which will take place after the exhibition.

Who can attend the masterclass?
The workshop is open to all levels. Applicants are encouraged to use the day to push their practice and utilise the group critique to its’ full potential. The day will be aimed at exploring personal development and feedback on current projects in progress.
 
What shall I bring into the masterclass?
Pen, paper, camera, personal development goals, work from a current project in progress (printed or digital files).
 
Will I recieve further information?
Yes, once booked you will recieve a full schedule of the day - what to prepare, bring and further details of the exhibition.  
 
Where does my ticket money go?
All proceeds from the Assignment - masterclass go towards the Overhaul exhibition costs.
