Description

The BEAM Centre Innovation Challenge Workshop
2nd May 2018
Glasgow Caledonian University

The Built Environment & Assessment Management (BEAM) Research Centre is inviting a small group of senior stakeholders from the construction industry to attend our next ‘Innovation Challenge Workshop’ on Wednesday the 2nd of May 09:30 – 12:00, and ask you to confirm your attendance and save the date in your calendar. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss real-life issues and problems faced by attendees, with a view to proposing solutions that can be reached via industry and academia collaboration. These will then be developed into project proposals with our academic staff and funding sourced.

Previous projects funded as a result of our last workshop in September 2017:

  • Fire Risk & Cladding for F.M. in response to recent high-profile fire incidents

  • Construction contractor waste reduction project leading to development of a digital app

  • Renewable heat optimisation for social housing which will result in user-friendly user manuals for their residents

The BEAM Research Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) has been established to bring together the wealth of knowledge and experience of its academics and industry collaborators to address all aspects of social, environmental and economic sustainability relating to the built environment. As such, it aims to become a centre for excellence in innovation, technology and sustainability, through research, industry collaboration and knowledge transfer activities. http://www.gcu.ac.uk/assetmanagement/

The Innovation Challenge Workshop will be delivered in collaboration with the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) who are able to offer funding to projects that meet their funding criteria: http://www.cs-ic.org/

Expressions of interest should be sent to Professor Billy Hare: b.hare@gcu.ac.uk

We look forward to seeing you on the 2nd of May.
