About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Travel

Courtly and refined, well-mannered and respectable, Piccadilly and St James are among London’s most well-groomed of urban districts. Laid out in the 17th century as the earliest developments of the modern West End, both areas swelled as aristocrats, dandies and their like flocked to the new city to hang on the coat-tails of royalty and influence and simply to be seen. Known for its suite of palatial ‘gentlemans’ clubs, its tailors, galleries and arcades, the districts today - after 350+ years - retain an unmistakable air of discretion. Charting architecture, fashion and taste, this walk explores Piccadilly & St James through its best buildings, most celebrated streets and notable personas.
