Frequently asked questions

Who is this workshop for?

This session is ideal for parents, guardians, and carers of children entering (or recently started) Year 7 who are feeling anxious about the transition to secondary school. It's designed for families who want practical tools to support their child during this pivotal change.

My child appears OK at the moment, but I know they are usually anxious- should I join?

YES! This is one of the mistakes I made- my son appeared fine before starting school. Looking back I wish I had put strategies in place before he started. So yes, definitely come along and put support in place BEFORE it is needed.

Will this session help SEND or Neuro-diverse children?

Yes. As a qualified SENDCo, NHS Autism Practitioner and Trainer and an ADHD coach, I have a wealth of experience to share. Change can be particularly hard for some groups and this workshop aims to address those issues.

What materials will I receive?

You will be sent a zoom link for the workshop, you will get a digital workbook of resources to use with your child and after the session, you will receive a PDF of slides from the workshop.

What does this workshop offer that other's don't?

Experience from a variety of angles- a mother of a very anxious child who knows what I would do differently next time, a counsellor who knows how to support children emotionally, a teacher who knows how to navigate the school system and understands realistic support that can be put in place......

Will I have to have my screen on?

Participants often worry about being seen. It is helpful if you are happy to turn your screen on, so we can have some interactive discussion. However, I understand people's concern's so you are free to switch your screen off and use the chat function should you wish to participate.
