Description

Winchester's Book Club for Book Lovers

We are very excited to announce The Book Group, a collaboration with local author Claire Fuller. Claire has gathered published authors to join us over the course of the next twelve months at Cabinet Rooms as part of a stimulating programme of 'Cabinet Meetings' for real book lovers. The series will alternate between 'Meet the Author' sessions, where you will hear the authors read from their works and answer any questions you may have about their craft, and 'The Book Discussion' where you will have the opportunity for lively debate about a book selected by the previous month's author along their chosen theme.

While many book clubs focus on drinking wine, the books are the main attraction at our events. We'll only be providing good company and a few nibbles, meaning you can purchase whatever you'd like to drink from the bar - be it a cocktail or a Horlick's - to enjoy with your discussion!

Sign up for one or all of the sessions now and don't miss out on what promises to be an entertaining and enlightening social event.

FAQs

It's unusual for Book Clubs to charge. Why does yours?

This is a Book Group like no other. We're thrilled to have published authors joining us every other month. We are asking for a minimal charge to help cover the costs for both the authors and us in putting on these events.

How big is the group?

We expect the group sizes to be 15-20 people. Pease note that there is a minimum group size of 6 people for each session to run.

Will the programme change?

Sometimes life takes turns we don't expect that our out of our control. If for any reason we do need to change the programme, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Due to conditions on our alcohol licence, unfortunately attendees must be at least 18 years old.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We are less than a 10-minute walk from the train station and bus terminus. If you are driving, the closest car parks are the Tower Street multi-storey or surface car park next to the Discover Centre.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please call the café on 01962 866480 or email winchester@cabinetrooms.com.

What's the refund policy?

We are happy to refund cancelled general admission tickets up to 30 days prior to the event. If, after that time, we have to cancel a session due to low numbers then you will be refunded prior to the event. Please note that we will only refund Book Club Pass tickets in part where we have had to cancel an event and this will be calculated at 10% of your Pass price per session cancelled.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We can check you off our list or scan you in!
