The Bunker Experience

Vespertine is an innovative and accessible programme of intriguing, spectacular and unique art events taking place monthly in the early evening gap between work and play. The audience of residents and visitors to York, whether they are arts attenders or not, will experience a range of art forms from music and performance to light projections and art installations. As well as offering inspiring experiences to individual attenders Vespertine aims to stimulate the early evening economy by providing more reasons for people to spend more time in the city getting to know its culture in greater depth.Emerging from a partnership established by York@Large and Make It York encompassing twenty of the city’s cultural organisations and managed by York Archaeological Trust, Vespertine was launched in May 2015 and continues until December 2016. The programme is made possible by support from the participating organisations, Make It York and Arts Council England.Vespertine is developed by its co-producers, Lucy Barker and Yvonne Carmichael, in response to discussions with the partner organisations. Events are planned in groups of three or more and advertised widely through the websitewww.vespertineyork.com, through social media, and through networks within the target audiences.

<DIV>Technology has become the only way to reach out and connect. Pilot Theatre and York Theatre Royal take you underground and into the world of E.M Forster’s ‘The Machine Stops’. Featuring an exclusive live performance of the newly composed soundtrack for the play, composed by John Foxx and analogue synth specialist Benge with video projections by Golden Meat. Set against the backdrop of York’s own Cold War Bunker, visuals and music combine to explore our complex relationship with technology and what this might mean for human connection now and in the future.</DIV>

<P>LOCATION<BR> York Cold War Bunker is situated on Monument Close, just off the main road into Acomb when traveling from York City Centre.<BR> Address: Monument Close, York YO24 4HT</P>
<P>PARKING<BR> There is limited car parking at the venue which we would like to keep free for those with access requirements so, if you are coming by car, please allow yourself enough time to find parking on one the surrounding streets or on the main road, where parking is available. Please also be aware that York Cold War Bunker is in a residential area.</P>
<P>CANCELLATION<BR> Please note, places are free and very limited. If for any reason you are unable to make it, please cancel your booking via the eventbrite website. Thank you!<BR></P>
