The Construction Summit 2023

The National Federation of Builders (NFB) is the construction industry’s longest established trade association and has grown in stature since its origins in the late 19th century. The federation represents companies involved in the building and construction industry in England and Wales.Today, the NFB is a modern, proactive organisation that has steadily built up a reputation for sound judgement, high media profile and a robust approach to protecting members’ interests.  The federation provides expert advice for members on legal, employment, financial services, taxation, procurement, health and safety, environmental, technical, training and government funding issues.

The NFB Construction Summit will take place on 20th April 2023 at the Tower Hotel, London.

The theme of the Summit will be “The Future of Construction; Leading for Success” with a day that’s split into 2 distinct sessions. The morning session will focus on people and culture and the afternoon session leads on digital transformation.AM Session Leading for Success – People and CultureThere will be 3 key speakers who will look at how people and culture can lead construction businesses to success. Before breaking for lunch the speakers will be invited back the stage for the popular panel discussion where you can ask more questions during the debate. Jo Salter was the first female fast jet pilot in the RAF and is the current Global Transformation Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). Jo will provide insight about her experiences within both roles with the challenges faced and how she has overcome them. Peter Kelly was the senior psychologist for 24 years at HSE. He currently serves as head of psychological health and safety UK for FlourishDx and as Mental Health Advisor to the charity Mates in Mind. Peter will discuss &#x27;The emerging and ongoing storm in mental health and construction&#x27;, covering: It’s time to start conversations and move them to action on mental health in construction; Be proactive rather than reactive in mental health; Talk about the elephant on site. The final presentation for the morning will be from a special guest and will be announced soon.PM SessionLeading for Success - Digital TransformationThe afternoon session will look at Digital Transformation. Again the afternoon will have 3 different viewpoints and experience to provide ideas and inspiration for your digital Journey followed by the panel discussion. Within the afternoon session you will hear from:Holly Grace Williams, Founder and Technical Lead - Akimbo Core. Holly will discuss Cyber Security - How I Hack Companies. She has over fifteen years’ experience in breaking into the computer systems of major companies. In this session she’ll share some funny stories of breaking into computers and buildings. Plus, some lessons learned on how companies can keep their data safe. It’s not all about passwords, software patches, and perimeters. This session should be useful to the geeks and techies looking to see another professional’s opinions on how companies can more effectively secure their systems – but for less techie audience members it will also be an interesting look behind the curtain on how real-world cyber-attacks actually take place and why some companies seem so ill prepared for themThe afternoon session will also include presentations from The LGA Digital Construction Lead and James Butcher Director of Policy for the NFB.Breakfast and a buffet lunch included in the ticket cost as well as refreshments throughout the day
