The event is being organised by the East Midlands Cyber Security Forum, facilitated byNexor. East Midlands Cyber Security Forum

Our everyday lives have become more connected than ever, making it easier to communicate with others, grow your market reach, and ultimately do business with people around the globe.
But, as the world becomes more connected, we’re exposed to a variety of new vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities that we aren’t always prepared for.
This event will give an overview of how connected everything increasingly is in the modern world – sometimes referred to as “The Internet of Everything”.
We will look at this from the citizen viewpoint - how everything around you is becoming Internet enabled – in your home; in your car; across the road network; when you are at the shops; if you are in hospital; and increasingly often within your own workplace.
The event will provide insight for organisations considering adopting Internet of Things (IoT) technology from a business perspective. This will include the advantages of connecting things and the security implications of doing so.

PETRAS is a consortium of nine leading UK universities who will work together over three years to explore critical issues in Privacy, Ethics, Trust, Reliability, Acceptability and Security in Cyber Security of the Internet of Things. Alisdair’s role is a senior management position within the PETRAS project with a focus on delivering the programme’s long term strategy, socio-economic impact and securing its legacy.

Jon Longstaff - Head of Cyber Security EMEA at OMNETRIC

Jon leads the Cyber Security team at the OMNETRIC Group, a joint venture between Siemens and Accenture focused on Information Technology/Operation Technology (IT/OT) Integration for energy utilities. He is accountable for information security within the organisation, which includes over 250 consultants, engineers and data scientists. He also works with energy operators to improve their resilience to digital threats. Jon has been working in the IT industry for over twenty years as a developer, architect, consultant and manager. 
 
Graham Markall - Representive from the Internet of Things Security Foundation Dr Graham Markall has a background in languages and compilers for scientific computing. He is part of Embecosm’s GNU tool chain team, where he is leading the SECURE project to transfer compiler security techniques from academic research into mainstream compilers. Dr Markall holds an MSc and PhD in Computer Science from Imperial College, London, where his doctoral research was on software frameworks for implementing high-performance simulations.
The Internet of Things Security Foundation (IoTSF) is a collaborative, non-profit, international response to the complex challenges posed by security in the expansive hyper-connected world. Their aim is to raise the quality bar, and drive the pervasiveness of security in IoT.

This event is being organised by the East Midlands Cyber Security Forum, which is supported by the East Midlands branches of the UK Cyber Security Forum and the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP), in partnership with the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) and Nexor.
The event provides a platform for those with an interest in cyber security to come together to share ideas with peers; build links to colleagues with similar roles; explore issues of common concern; keep up-to-date with developments in the field, and draw on the knowledge and expertise of a network of contacts.
