The Equality Hub - Launch

Online event
Tuesday, Apr 14, 2026 from 1 pm to 3 pm GMT+1
Overview

Discover the Aetherlink Equality Hub: a new way to access science globally through VR, AI, and digital innovation

The Aetherlink Equality Hub launch marks the beginning of a new approach to global scientific collaboration—one that removes barriers of geography, infrastructure, and access.

Supported by the British Council, this initiative brings together a global partnership between University College London (UCL), the University of Johannesburg, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) to explore how immersive digital technologies can enable more equitable access to science.

Built on immersive virtual reality environments, real-time data integration, and AI-powered interaction, the Equality Hub enables participants to engage with scientific spaces, equipment, and expertise from anywhere in the world. The platform is designed to support inclusive, connected, and sustainable research and education ecosystems across international networks.

This launch event will introduce the vision behind Aetherlink and demonstrate how the Equality Hub will:

  • Expand access to high-quality scientific environments and training
  • Support international collaboration without the need for physical travel
  • Provide new opportunities for students, researchers, and underrepresented communities
  • Integrate AI-driven guidance and real-time data into immersive learning spaces

A key feature of the session will be an interactive virtual poster exhibition, where attendees can explore research and projects within the VR environment, engage with content dynamically, and experience a new model for scientific dissemination and networking.

Participants will be able to access the event:

  • In VR using compatible headsets for a fully immersive experience
  • On desktop (PC) for interactive access to the virtual environment (recommended: i7 or above for optimal performance)

Attendees will gain insight into the platform, its applications across education and research, and opportunities to engage with the growing Aetherlink network.
