Finding flexible and part-time work in the HR profession is a challenge despite many HR departments championing it and many organisations realising just how much talent they are missing out on by not thinking more flexibly. But if you are lucky enough to find a part-time role or job share how do you make it work?

The Walton and Weybridge Group are delighted to have four guest speakers on this topic for this event giving two perspectives:

The first part will be an evidence based, practical session led by two senior HR professionals currently in a highly successful senior job share at the BBC who will talk about:

-how to make a job share work in practice; either as an HR professional looking to share a role or in advising your business on managing job-share situations and

- the practicalities of setting up the job-share to gaining the confidence of the business and ensuring success.

The second part will be a presentation and insights from two managing consultants also in a highly successful job share behind the very successful Part Time team at Oakleaf Partnership (the independent specialist HR recruiter). Jane Middleton and Harriet Lavender – Managing Consultants Oakleaf Partnership Part Time HR Recruitment Team

Kathy Duffy started her HR career in hospitality, undertaking a variety of roles from HR generalist to setting up and running the shared services function for a well know hotel group. She moved to the BBC in 2008 as Employment Policy and Process Manager and since then has worked on some of the BBC’s most significant HR projects, including the recent large-scale HR transformation. In March 2016 took up the position of Head of HR for the Deputy Director-General Group as a job share with Caroline Simmonds.

Caroline Simmonds worked for a number of recruitment consultancies before joining the BBC’s in-house recruitment team as Recruitment Manager in 2001. She moved to a generalist HR role at the BBC in 2006 and has supported a number of content areas as HRBP, including Entertainment, Comedy and Factual with responsibility for shows such as The One Show, Top Gear and Strictly Come Dancing. In March 2016 she was promoted to Head of HR on a job-share basis with Kathy Duffy.

Jane Middleton and Harriet Lavender are the managing consultants behind the very successful Part Time team at Oakleaf Partnership (the independent specialist HR recruiter). Establishing the desk in 2014 they have both worked tirelessly to establish a “go to” destination and platform for HR candidates seeking part time and flexible working and imaginative solutions for open-minded employers seeking flexible HR talent.

Jane Middleton MCIPD, is an experienced HR practitioner with 25 years hands on experience having worked in investment banking (Citi, Cazenove and JPMorgan), as well as working in the hospitality and leisure industries. Since 2010 she has run her own independent HR consultancy supporting SME businesses in London whilst juggling her career as a working parent of two daughters (7 and 10).

Harriet Lavender has an extensive career in recruitment having worked in house for EasyJet in their Talent Acquisition team recruiting across all disciplines for this fast paced business and she has also spent a number of years working in agency recruitment specialising in the HR profession a role she returned to in 2015. She is passionate about supporting candidates in their quest to secure work life balance and she is also a working parent of 6 year old twins.
