The Living Room is a public space dedicated to creative events, shaped in dialogue with the community and delivered by the residents of A House for Artists. The Living Room, A House for Artists

Please join us for The Flood - an evening of performance alongside a new sound and sculptural installation work that reflects on folklore, local histories, and our relationships with the natural world.The installation invites visitors to consider potent symbols of life-giving, transformation, and nature - along with complex themes of the body as farmed, consumed, and discarded. Sculptural elements draw on references to pagan folklore and local histories, while materially formed of the detritus of sea life and bones submerged in the rich mud of the river Thames.Surrounding these works is a sonic collaboration that completes the installation and enriches the space. This sound work is drawn from field recordings from mudlarking along the Thames, with ebbs and flows that call to mind the movement of the tides, the swells of our emotions, and the waters that make up our own bodies - the clearest of links between the human and more-than human natural worlds.The installation is a reminder of the necessity of remembering our essence. It is a gentle call to action, to respect and fully inhabit our true nature for positive collective evolution. The installation will be open to view from 6pm, with the sound work available to listen via headphones. Alongside the installation, there will be an evening of sound baths, readings, and live performance from 8 - 10pm.
