Green Spaces Course – Day Eight, Monday 15th July 

 The Legacy of Your Green Space Project:  

  • 10:00-10:45 Introductions – sharing stories of long-lived and not-so-long-lived projects. The recipe for longevity: good communication, succession in projects. 


  • 10:45-11:40 Problems that projects run into & some solutions: the money running out, the group drifts apart, the crucial person is leaving.  

     
  • 11:40-12:00 Coffee Break & Chat 
     
  • 12:00-12:45 Perennials, self-seeders and forest gardens- gardens that can be returned to. Taking over an abandoned garden or allotment. 

     
  • 12:45-13:30 Lunch & Chat 
     
  • 13:30-14:30 Recruitment and engagement. Training & induction. 

      
  • 14:30-14:45 Take a Yield – the complex yields of community gardens, or how to make the green space important in the lives of participants. 

     
  • 14:45-16:00 The evolution of organisations. Scaling up, and scaling out. 

Participants completing 75% per cent of the courses from the Swansea Community Green Spaces Training will be eligible for certification.

*These sessions will be free for participants on low incomes, on benefits, or who are students. Free places will also be available for members of groups which have previously been involved in the Swansea Community Green Spaces Project.

Participants outside of these groups will be asked to pay £20 for each day session.

The majority of our events are free to attend and do not require booking, however if you do wish to book onto an event, this would serve as a helpful reminder to yourself as well as demonstrating interest in the events we are holding. During your booking, you may be asked contribute to our work through a small donation - this is not obligatory to attend the event but please feel free to donate what you can so we can continue our work.
