About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Story Forge founder, our best friend Tim Ralphs, returns to Sheffield with his new show.

A position has just opened in our More-than-Human Resources Department! As the heroic head of the hiring committee for the divine pantheon, it's up to you to put together a team of sacred scribes, astral accountants and celestial problem-solvers. Tim Ralphs has got the candidates for you to consider. With the right team of Godly governors in place, this incorporeal corporation is going places!

Bureaucracy, administration and record-keeping are not modern phenomena. They've been a part of human life ever since Mesharra asked Gishkim if he could pay her back after the harvest. Our ancestors dealt with the pettiness of pointless forms, misfiled accounts and typographical errors, raising up deities and demons to preside over organisational systems for both the living and the dead.

From the ancient to the medieval, the holy to the impish, from around the world, prepare to synergise, disrupt and shift some paradigms. You might think a Sun God would be first choice for blue-sky thinking, but if you want to deep dive into the nitty-gritty of mythic bureaucracy, you're going to need to offer a prayer to The Goddess of Spreadsheets.

Doors open at 7.00 p.m. get a drink from the bar then climb up the stairs to join us.

The kitchen may be closing quite early, so arrive in good time if you’d like a meal beforehand or check with the Fat Cat before you set off.

Suggested donation £8-£10. There will be a few tickets on the door or book a ticket here to ensure a seat. We are very excited to be hosting Tim and expect a full house.

Meeting every third tuesday of the month we are the only spoken word night in Sheffield with the focus of traditional folktales, myths and legends. We are oral storytellers and encourage all participants to drop their paper and tell us their story with their hearts and faces.
