About this event

This is a challenging walk and must only be attempted by very fit hill walkers who are appropriately equipped.

At 2,650ft, Hart Fell is the highest point in the surrounding hills of Moffat. Its most impressive feature is the deep sculptured glacial glen of Black Hope to the east of the summit.

The walk takes the more gentle ascent from the west. Having been dropped off at the junction to Old Newton Farm, our route takes the track through the valley to the wooden bridge that crosses the Lochan Burn.

Although this is a tough climb, your new walking mates and the spectacular scenery will spur you on.

From that point, we commence the lung-busting 1,968ft climb via Billscleuch Moor to the Hall Fell Trig Point. Here we will take a well-earned break and simply enjoy the views.

The return journey takes the more sedate descent along the ridge line southwest via Arthur's Seat, allowing walkers to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Eventually, we arrive back at the community hall, having completed the six-mile challenge.

Transport is included to take us back to town.

Top tip This is an all-day walk so you may want to bring a packed lunch
