Description

The Heritage Alliance is pleased to announce that it will be holding a second event this year to celebrate the work of the heritage sector internationally. This event follows the formal launch of our first-ever International Report last year. The Alliance is very grateful to the Confucius Institute at Heriot-Watt University for sponsoring this event.

The programme for the day will feature short talks given by a selection of policy-makers, funders, Alliance members and Travel Grant recipients, alongside discussion of what is next for our sector in this space.

Programme:

  • Welcome: Ian Baxter (THA trustee & Director of the Scottish Confucius Institute at Heriot-Watt University)

  • Introduction: Lizzie Glithero-West (CEO of The Heritage Alliance)

  • Member Case Study: Caroline Peach (National Heritage Science Forum)

  • Member Case Study: Alex Llewelyn (CIfA)

  • Launch of International Funding Directory: Kate Pugh & Dr Lucy Blue (Honor Frost Foundation)

  • Member Case Study: Catherine Leonard (INTO)

  • Arm-length bodies, in conversation: Araba Webber (National Lottery Heritage Fund), Stephen Stenning (British Council) & Alexandra Warr (Historic England) – Chaired by Chris Sutton

  • Spotlight China: Ian Baxter leads Confucius Case Study and discussion on working with China with Catherine Leonard (INTO), Kevin Fewster (National Maritime Museum), Sue Medway (Chelsea Physic Garden), Matthew Jones (Imagemakers) & Alex Warr (Historic England)

  • British Council/THA Travel Grant Recipients in Conversation: Blair Priday (Ethiopian Heritage Fund), Kate Hickmott (Lewes Priory Trust), Peter Lakin (Council on Training in Architectural Conservation) & Stephen Stenning (British Council) – Chaired by Chris Sutton

  • Giles Smith (DCMS): Heritage and Soft Power
