The impact of mandatory CPD and qualification for letting agents
Join us to discuss the extent to which a new system of regulation has enhanced and professionalised practice by letting agencies in Scotland
Proud to be professional: The impact of mandatory CPD and qualification for letting agents
Back in 2014, legislation was passed making provisions for the regulation of Letting Agents in Scotland. This was to improve the standards of service for those renting properties from letting agents and requires appropriate people in each letting agency to hold a relevant qualification and where necessary undertake additional training on letting agency work.
Therefore, as we passed the first period of registration in 2021, the Chartered Institute of Housing, funded by Safe Deposit Scotland Charitable Trust, commissioned a review of the existing qualification and training requirement for letting agencies. Three years after a new system was introduced, CIH wanted to determine what if any difference the new system of regulation had made.
At this event, organised by CACHE, you will hear from the commissioners, consultants and representatives from across the rented sector about:
- the extent to which the new system has enhanced and professionalised practice by letting agencies;
- how it can be further improved for letting agents and tenants; and
- what lessons there are for other parts of the rented sector.
Speakers include:
- Callum Chomczuk (CIH Scotland)
- Anna Evans (Indigo House)
- Lorna Dunsmore (curb)
- Neil McInnes (Umega)
- Matthew Busher (Kingdom Housing Association)
NB: The event will take place on Zoom. A link and joining instructions will be sent via email following registration and in advance of the event.
